This test case may be executed by:
Purpose
Use the active work-task dashboard and work-task record to confirm the responsible workgroup, assign a responsible technician, and add one or more person resources to the task.
Before you begin
Confirm that you have access to active work tasks and permission to update task assignments.
Know the work task that requires assignment.
Know the responsible workgroup and the technician or other person resource who should perform the work.
Confirm that the technician belongs to, or is available to, the responsible organization when required.
Locate the Work Task
Step 1: Find an unassigned task
1. Open Home and locate Active Work Tasks in District, or open the applicable task-dispatch list from the main navigation.
2. Filter Assignment to Unassigned when you are assigning new work.
3. Review the task type, request class, task ID, task name, location, and planned dates.
4. Select the task link to open the full work-task record.
Confirm the Workgroup and Responsible Person
Step 1: Review the responsible organization
1. On the General tab, review the task description, request class, priority, location, and linked request.
2. Scroll to Responsible Organization.
3. Confirm that the correct workgroup is selected.
4. When the workgroup is missing or incorrect, select Find, choose the appropriate organization, and confirm the selection.
Step 2: Assign the responsible technician
1. In Responsible Person, select Find.
2. Search or filter the people list when needed.
3. Select the technician who should be responsible for the task.
4. Select OK.
5. Confirm that the technician name appears in Responsible Person.
Add Person Resources to the Task
Step 1: Open the Resources tab
1. Select the Resources tab on the work-task record.
2. Review any people, material, parts, equipment, or resource allocations already associated with the task.
3. Select Find People to add a person resource.
Step 2: Select the person resource
1. Review the People in Responsible Organization list.
2. Use the name or organization filters when needed.
3. Select the checkbox beside each person who should be added to the task.
4. Select OK.
Step 3: Verify and save the assignment
1. Confirm that each selected person appears in Resources with Resource Type set to Person.
2. Review the Resource Requirement and Percent Allocated values.
3. Review Work Time and Resource Allocations when planned labor details are required.
4. Select Save or Save & Close.
5. Reopen or refresh the task and confirm that the responsible person and resource assignments remain associated with the task.
Expected result
The work task is routed to the correct responsible organization, the responsible technician is identified, and the required person resources are associated with the task.
Common mistakes to avoid
Assigning a technician without confirming the responsible workgroup.
Changing Responsible Person when the Responsible Organization is the field that needs correction.
Selecting a person from the full employee list without verifying the correct name and organization.
Assuming the Responsible Person field automatically adds the person to the Resources tab.
Leaving the task without saving the assignment changes.
